Mission 823 End of Year Impact Report 2025-2026
End of Year Impact Report · January 2025 to Today
Hope is still growing in Ukraine
What God has done through the Mission 823 family in a time of war, and how one year-end gift can bless you, strengthen our mission and reach Ukraine’s children.

Dear partners,
An impact report usually covers a single year. But in a time of war, the needs, the crises and God’s answers to prayer don’t fit neatly on a calendar. So this report looks back over everything since January 2025.
Every meal, every camp and every cup of clean water you’ll read about here happened because you prayed, gave and went with us. Thank you. At the end, you’ll find a few simple ways to get a head start on your year-end commitment, and an invitation to our live public briefing.
For The King,
Shawn Sullivan
President, Mission 823

Looking back
2025: a year at full capacity
- Camp was full: 11 fully funded camps at Camp Willow Park gave over 600 traumatized children rest, play and the Gospel.
- American teams returned: 3 church teams served as counselors and trauma therapists, the first in three years.
- 2 new shuttle buses tripled our ability to bring children to camp, and Phase 2 renovations were finished.
- Clean water and homes: a water filtration plant built in Oleksandrivka with our partner REUA, 1,000 family water filters, and homes restored for the Yaremchuk family of 17 (5 serving at the front) and the Balabanyk family.
- Front-line care: firefighting gear and medical supplies for first responders, 10 months of support for the Burla family’s 10 adopted children, and new believers baptized at our church plant in Saltivka, Kharkiv.

This year
2026: new doors open
- New teammates: Boni Sordillo, Director of Restorative Development, and Davonte Brunson, Assistant Director, joined Taras and our Ukrainian national team.
- Feeding under fire: 1,500 children a month receive a warm meal in Nikopol, where Pastor Roman and Inna chose to stay for their city.
- August mission: 18 days from Nikopol to the Carpathians, carrying $80,000 in AdventHealth Orlando medical supplies into a war zone.
- Clean water for Dnipro: a second water filtration plant deployed at the Cancer Hospital in the city of Dnipro. Each plant makes 100,000 liters a day for up to 30,000 people.
- Faith House: the Pestrushko family now has 10 children, including four newly adopted teens, one with special needs.
- Camps in the mountains: hundreds of children at Carpathian camps, including 55 with Pastor Ivan Burla and 120 with Skinia Church of Kyiv.
- Building for more: Camp Willow Park upgrades for fire safety, sanitation and handicap access will triple who we can serve.

“The war had wounded their stories. It had not taken away their ability to be children.”
Rick Melero, after the Carpathian camps, August 2026
A girl at camp told us that one day she wants to help foster children in her own community. Pain is beginning to become purpose.

Why this winter matters
The strikes now reach our region too
Attacks are no longer limited to the front line. We are seeing strikes in our own region in western Ukraine as well. That is why we are installing tens of thousands of dollars of solar panels, batteries and inverters, so power stays steady and the work keeps going when the grid goes down.
Winter is the hardest season for the children and families we serve. Year-end gifts arrive exactly when they are needed most.
Your year-end gift
One gift, three ways it matters
For you
Joy that lasts, and real tax benefits
The fulfillment of knowing a child is fed, healed and growing up in a family. New for 2026: even if you don’t itemize, you can deduct up to $1,000 ($2,000 if married) in cash gifts. Gifts of appreciated stock or an IRA distribution (age 70½+) can lower your taxes even more.
